'In The Sun' Remake

As a class we had to recreate the music video to 'In The Sun' by She and Him. We each were involved with filming and directing certain shots and then with editing all of them together.

Here is the original video of 'In The Sun' by She and Him:

Here is our recreation of the video:

Reflection:
What did we do when filming that made it easier to edit and more professional?
  1. Everyone was constantly referring back to their storyboards when filming and directing so that they could get the shot exactly right when shooting, that the cast needed and the specific props and equipment was there.
  2. The communication between the whole class made it easier to work as we all listened to one another, no one mucked about. When someone said "Quiet on set", everyone was quiet. This allowed the filming and overall process to run smoothly.
  3. Shots were shot multiple times so that there was a variety that we could choose from and decide what to use, depending on which one was better.
  4. Sophie and Dayna really kept the group on track by making sure everyone knew what they were doing and that if anyone needed help they could step up to help them. This made editing easier when it came to it as the shots were more accurate due to their advice and help, which in turn made it easier to put into the sequence.
What did we do when filming that made it harder to edit and less professional?
  1. On a few shots, the people who were filming and directing didn't really pay attention to certain aspects on the storyboard such as the camera movement or what actually happens in the shot. So when it came to filming my partner and I had to figure out which was which by a process of elimination.
  2. When editing, my partner and I noticed that a few shots were missing so we had to use parts of other/ previous shots to put in the place of the ones that was meant to be there.
  3. We could have had more time editing if kept to schedule and timing so that we didn't run over and have to shoot on another day.
  4. If, when filming Sophie (playing the main character) was able to concentrate on lip syncing so it would have been easier to match up the clips to the lyrics as on certain shots it looks unprofessional and almost takes away a certain aspect from the piece.
Overall WWW's:
  1. We all worked really well together, people helped those who needed it and on the spot people volunteered to step in as either director or filming when needed to.
  2. When preparing for shooting the video, everyone really took charge of what they needed to so that it helped get everything organised efficiently.
  3. Sophie and Dayna really helped the whole shooting process run easily and smoothly so that there was not stresses or negativity in the group. Everyone was kept happy and everyone really work well as a team.
  4. The process itself really taught us a lot about keeping to timing, concentrating on what exactly needs to be shot and giving us the experience of shooting a music video.
Overall EBI'S:
  1. Sophie had practised lip syncing so that when it came to editing and making the final product it looked more professional the her lips matched the lyrics.
  2. Certain people in shots had acted more so it built up more of the jolly atmosphere that we see in the original video.
  3. When preparing for the shoot, we focused more when learning the timing in the dances so that when it came to the shoot, we were more prepared and knew exactly what happened at what part of the song.
  4. It would have been better if we checked that every single shot was shot correctly so that when we were editing certain shots weren't missing or didn't match the original video.
